A HERITAGE BUNGALOW IN THE HILLS
Wake to misted valleys and the scent of Ceylon tea
A restored colonial country house perched above Ella Gap — six intimate rooms, home-cooked Sri Lankan feasts, and a garden that opens onto endless mountain views.
OUR STORY
A 1920s planter's house, lovingly brought back to life
Country House Ella began as the residence of a tea estate superintendent, built where the hills fold down into the famous Ella Gap. We spent two years restoring its teak floors, deep verandahs and lime-washed walls — keeping the soul of the old house while adding the quiet comforts of a modern retreat.
Today it is a family-run home for travellers who want to slow down: unhurried breakfasts on the lawn, cardamom tea at dusk, and a host who knows every trail, waterfall and viewpoint worth walking to.
Third-generation hill-country hosts who treat every guest like family.
